Sorry, for taking over a week to respond, but I appreciate your 21 photos especially the ones of the west side of the chiarello compound ..west of the lilly bordered on both sides brook with the house cosest to the lake (furtherest south) your grandfathers cabin..when you entered it had a small kitchen to the east side of the cabin and two small bedrooms on the west side where one of the bedrooms your dad stayed ..on the south side was a narrow living room and ojn the right/north side of the living rm was a door that led to yor grandfathers and my my aunt louise's bedroom w/a closet on the right north where your grandfather (my Uncle Jimmy stored his fishing stuff). jUST TO THE NORTH OF THEIR CABIN WAS A SMALL ONE ROOM CABIN WHERE THE BLACK MAIDS FROM NORTH CAROLINA ALL LIVED...i often as a small boy snuck into their cabin at night but they would shoe me out as quickly as i came in the door...grandpa chiarello, gus (the eldest of the seven children and eldest of the 4 sons who had his own house on the east property) chiarello, dickie chiarello (who had his house on the north side of the street of Lake Shore Drive with his daughter (Paula) & 2 sons (Charles & Anthony)... Aunt Pauline (Dickie's wife) who passed a just a few years ago parents lived a few houses just east of their house on Lake Shore Drive. I always will remember Aunt Pauline telling me as a pre ten year old that she was once a teacher and had eyes in the back of her head. For years in the late 50's while summering in the chiarello compound, I would try to sneak up on Aunt Pauline and try to see her back of the heads eyes....
I spent my best summers of my life on that compound from 1950 to 1962 with my cousins (paula, charles, anthony, puddy, willy, richard, steven, cookie, peter, marie-louise, richard, tommy, francine, catherine, anthony, and the guardino's - little aunt lilly/uncle gus's wife's who lived on a dirt rtoad w/a boat house on the east side of center harbor's bay ..closer to the black & white one mile siland stick w/rocks close to the lakes surface...) though only have of the just mentioned were within 5 years of my age the othere were our older cousins and in a sense idols ...peter drove the miss winnipesaukee as a summer job and lived at times in our seond floor south bedroom as did at times marie-louiseand a sense of family
I just left a new photo taken in front of my old Xavier Military HS in Manhattan in 1982 the day I got married. In the phot6o is your grandfather, Jimmy, standing to the le3ft of my Dad the mday of my wedding. Jimmy and lOUISE WERE THE ONLY EXTENDED FAMIL;Y MEMBERS WHO ATTENDED DUYE TO KEEPING THE CEREMONY SMALL UNDER 30 PEOPLE.
