Gilmore Pond is one of the Best!
If you enjoy quiet water paddling, Gilmore Pond in Jaffrey NH is one of the best. Crystal clear water, bald eagles, and nesting loons...they are all here. Not to mention, a glimpse of Mount Monadnock from the farthest reaches of this pond. There's some development and some open areas, so this isn't the most secluded spot, but noise and water traffic is very minimal. We've been here three times and each time it feels like a peaceful retreat! One of the things I love most about Gilmore is how clean the water is...when you're paddling the perimeter, you can see clear through to the bottom.
This 111-acre pond will keep you busy for a couple hours of exploring, longer if you plan to drop in a fishing line. And don't forget to combine your excursion to Gilmore with a stop at Kimball Farm Ice Cream afterward. It's some of the best homemade ice cream around!
