Area603

Has any one been watching Paranormal State?
on A&E I have a few problems with it allot of things take place that are just to convenient for me. Such as in the last episode. They were helping a family that was supposedly haunted by a demon, they had crosses on their walls. As the Paranormal state crew was outside all the crosses turned upside down by themselves. In my opinion either the producers of the show told them to do it or they turned all the crosses upside down themselves. The event was just to convenient for me. I got the distinct impression that a family friend of the clients wanted the attention and was exuding negative energy to the children. Just my opinion

Robert,

I don't know anything about that show. It's probably on cable and we just get the broadcast channels at my house. I agree that the scenario you describe sounds like a set up. I take it you are a skeptic. Me too, in most things, though I'm convinced that there are things in the world that transcend scientific explanations. Seems to me that reality has some kind of hazy margins where things can get weird and we tend to clump experiences in this zone under a few iconic types: ghosts, UFOs, paranormal powers, bigfoot or nessie-type creatures, etc. I don't know what it all means, but I don't think these are modern phenomena. Things like this have always been reported. Maybe it's just a chemical glitch in the human brain, but that wouldn't explain why groups of people sometimes experience them together. I've got a Christian world view, so I believe in a spiritual world, and I figure these things might emanate from that. But I enjoy the work of the debunkers at the Skeptic and Skeptical Inquirer magazines. There are usually good skeptics groups in any state. I don't think there's one in NH, per se, but I'm pretty sure there are meet-ups and such. Boston has a good skeptics group. Do you know of any place in NH where skeptics congregate?

Hi Bob I am a sleptical believer I do belive in ghosts as well as Bigfoot and Nessie. However I have the attitude of
Belive but verify. I do not know of any skeptical groups. may be could start one.

I'm not really able to lead any new groups, but a "skeptical believer's" group is one that I would join. The concept of dynamic tension between faith and discernment is pretty much my creed. I think a motto of "Believe but Verify" would look good on the crest for the headquarters.

I love the idea of a headquarers (HQ) where we can meet to discuss matters paranormal and supernatural. It should have giant, black, imposing doors with big, oversized brasses and a giant lion's head knocker. A bronze plaque hangs over the doors that says "Believe but Verify." The building should be built of stone -- kind of a Skull and Bones deal. Perhaps I'm overboard. We could do it at Denny's, too. Either way, count me in..

Bill, Welcome aboard the good ship Area 603. I enjoyed your remark about the proposed skeptical believer's club. Maybe if we can't have an actual bricks an mortar headquarters like the one you so vividly described we can create one online. We can always get together at Denny's from time to time regardless.

I agree we should decide on a date and time to meet
Preferably on the weekend.
Also as i requested previously what Denny's location are you thinking about?

I watched that show for the first time on the very night you are talking about, I absolutely agree with you. I have done a few investigations and this show is a train wreck waiting to happen
