I have miles to tell, try to remember, exchange memories from what I remember as a child there and then from the early to mid 1950's till the day we were thrown out of Paradise in 1962.......
Anyone game...... Joe yesterday was my 58th birthday
Aunt Louise Coppola-Chairello (my Mom's Sister 1.5 year older sister) and Uncle Jimmy Chiarello (my Dad's brother) ...... after Uncle Jimmy who prior retired in the early 60's moved from Garden City, NY and moved to Hollywood, Florida near Aunt Lousie & my Mom's parents (Salvatore & Amalia Coppola). In the late 1970's after the passing of Louise's parents Salvatore & Molly (my Nanny & Poppy), Uncle Jimmy & Lousie left Florida due to the influx of the Cuban refugee floatilla and settled in Brevord, NC about 20 minutes west of Ashville, NC. Once in the early 1970's when driving from Florida to New Hampshire, they drove through Brevard, NC and Uncle Jimmy was drawn to this area because it reminded him of New Hampshire and his youth......
So glad to hear that you and Catherine have made a connection through this site. Your Mom & my Mom were very close in age despite being seperated by a generation. My Mom and Dad both loved your Dad & your Mom (Mary Ann) very much. So for now, I will leave this site. IN the 1980'sw when I lived in the West Village, I had dinner with your brother and I shared whatever memories I had about those days with him. He gave me a copy of his DVD (?) of his very dear and persdonal homage to his Dad driving the Guardino's 3-seat 1,000 feet long (or so it seeemed back then) pre-1930's Chris Craft Speedboat, The "Iris". I was very moved by his homage. I am very moved by your part of this history of our families that crossed paths for a brief time in the early 60'sd. I wisdh you well and give my love and my Mom's love to your Mom, brother, and yourself. This will be my last "603".
To: Catherine,
I was very ill the past two weeks after your telling me of Francine's passing. This afternoon, I called my Mom (Aunt Gloria) who lives in Southampton and told her of Francine's passing. She paused for at least 30 long seconds to regain her voice & composure. She did not know that Francine was gone and it effected her. Please forward to me so I can pass along to Mom a way of getting in touch with you via this site or mail to:
Joseph A. Chiarello

She asked about Francis and told me that when my Dad died in 1992 that she received a very dear letter from Francis that is in heart to this day. Please let Francis know. It meant a lot to her.
Bye Joseph - I'm sorry you won't be on this site. I enjoyed your reading about your memories - you captured snapshots of the family so well. It took me back to when I was very little. Even remembering Aunt Carmella and Uncle Felix and the jokes about them! I hope I didn't offend you or make you sad. Please keep in touch. Yes, that video my brother made was awesome - he's very talented and sensitive. He made that when he was still in college. Please call me if you want at 603-380-2429 (cell) or 603-664-5262, especially if you come up this way. My mom still talks about your parents and was very close to them - she liked them very much. I still remember them as well. You and I seem very much alike. Take care.
Please tell my first cousin Willy hello. I always remember her sitting on the wesat end of their front porch with red wood trimmed screens. She was always such a good soul. I still have 16 mm films from the late 1940's & the early 1950's of her ballerina days as a young giirl on the lawn between her dad's house and the lake's eating area/Gazebo and then in the area between her dad's house and the gazebo.
I hoped she is OK. there was never a mean bone in her body. Say hello. I think I included in my 603 photo library, cousin willy in her western garb abainst a casr at miss booth's meridth riding stable. I will try to send them again in the next 603 ..sorry if I duplicate...I am moving to a new home ... a sweet carriage hjouse on an estate uin Bridgehampton.
Your second cosusin Joseph and first cousin to your Mom and your dear Dad, Steve

Hi there Joseph - thank you for the lovely note. I just spoke to Aunt Willie the other day to wish her Happy Easter. She lives alone in an apt. and works with the elderly. I always keep in touch. She is well and we have lots of laughs on the phone. You are right - she is/has always been sweet and wouldn't hurt a fly. She was like an older sister to me, as I saw her every Sunday when growing up. I would sit in her room and watch her put on her make up - and she let me listen to her records! I would emulate her in later years and I'm told by my mom that I picked up several of her manerisms! I'd love to see that photo.
I love carriage houses, and always thought it would be great to caretake an estate up here and live in one. How fars is that from where you are now? Lots of luck in your new place.
Please say hello to my cousin Willy. I wish her the best and remind her for me and my family what a decent woman she was always and is now. She had the most fairest skin I had ever know then in the 1950's and probably still to this day. Please say hello.
Yes, she still has that fair skin. I have told her hello for you. She said what a nice guy you were. She is doing okay, a little lonely. She just sent me a box of things that belonged to my grandparents last week, she's doing some cleaning out. Some things that were bought up here. Nice to have them. Are you in your new place? How's your mom? Does she remember me at all? I remember both of your parents well.
take care,
Lynne
